UPDATE: The Old Library shortlisted for IDEA 2012

The Old Library has been shortlisted in the Hospitality category of the Interior Design Excellence Awards (IDEA) 2012. The Interior Design Excellence Awards is Australia’s largest and most successful independent design awards program. Launched by (Inside) magazine in 2003, the program celebrates the best of Australian interior and product design across 11 categories and five special awards.

Designer Hecker Guthrie transformed what was originally a library in the 70s, into a modern Italian designer in Cronulla, Sydney. Award winners and commendations will be announced at the IDEA Gala Party, to be held on Friday 9 November at the Seymour Centre in Sydney. UPDATE: The Old Library restaurant nominated for second design award!

The Old Library has been nominated for a Belle - Coco Republic Interior Design Award this year! Last month we shared the details about the restaurant’s interior with you here as well as an interview with Mario Kalpou here.  We’re now excited to announce the restaurant’s design is nominated along with Apollo at Potts Point and Scarlett at The Rocks in its category.

The awards tomorrow will celebrate the excellence in Australian interior design and decoration by individuals, partnerships and design practices at residential, commercial and corporate levels. These prestigious awards are committed to supporting the creativity and innovation of the Australian interior design industry.

The Old Library offers the finest flavours of Southern Italy in a designer setting that’s fresh and modern and remains true to the heritage of its 1908 building.

Red Bull BC One All Star – New Action Clip

Red Bull BC One’s All Star team has released its first official video. Shot in Rio – the site of the next BC One competition – it features the ultimate crew showcasing their enviable talents! The team is made up of nine internationally renowned dancers, each with their own unique style and moves, representing the best of the best!

This year, Red Bull BC One’s All Star team will start battling as a crew! You’ll see them at several competitions as well as judging most of the lead up rounds to the main event. Their years of experience along with exceptional skills and humble personalities, entitle them to be ambassadors of their culture.

Since the late 70s, B-Boying (aka breakdancing) has been considered an underground movement, over time spreading around the world and mustering fans from every corner of the globe. To aid the scene’s promotion and popularity, Red Bull created Red Bull BC One – one of the biggest and most respected B-Boy competitions in the world. The competition celebrates the dance way of life, showcasing the best of the culture with 16 world-class B-Boys competing in a thrilling one-on-one knockout system to determine who is ‘the one’.

The Chronicles of Narnia: The Exhibition

Off the back of the hugely successful Harry Potter Exhibition, The Powerhouse Museum, Sydney, is hosting The Chronicles of Narnia: The Exhibition. It’s an opportunity for avid Narnia fans to step through the wardrobe and enter the wintry wonderland that is the Narnia world. There are over 150 costumes to see up close and personal as well as set dressings, props and three-dimensional sets from the film series. The exhibition’s opening weekend is May 11 – 13.
